A Stolen Knight

With sunlight glinting from the shield of his visor
He was a modern-day knight in courage and deed
With his armour of leather and hair of spun gold
He roared through our lives on his thunderous steed

As his beautiful queen watched in abject horror
While her once-peaceful life was tearing apart
Her true love was torn from the cradle of her bosom
And the world felt the crack of her breaking heart

Stolen from our world by a whim of the Fates
In a terrible moment impossible to foresee
He dwells now amongst celestial dragons
Jousting and smiling and riding so free

Only the ancient gods understand why
That sometimes the good are the ones to die young
Or perhaps they do not and can only stand by
And listen to the mortals as hearts are wrung…

Thank you … as you have probably figured out, Todd died in a fluke motorcyle accident while his live-in girlfriend watched.
