Phew!
Dear Planet Earth,
That rushing sound you just heard, the one like a huge WHOOSH of air? That was the sound of America releasing its collective pent-up breath.
Now I can go back to my usual political ignorance.
love, DK

No, that whoosh you hear is the sound of money being sucked out of your pockets to fund a trillion in new welfare programs.
November 5th, 2008 at 1:31 pm
Jager: I think you are mistaking me for somebody who HAS money.

Not only that but we can now answer the phone without fear of robocalls. Stevie Wonder called me today to tell me he loved me!

I read an analysis by the non-partisan Tax Policy Center that showed that if you make between 42k and 75k, you’ll see a cut. If you make LESS than 42k, your marginal tax rate will actually go UP drastically.
And that’s assuming anyone in those low-paying jobs even still has a job after the corporations lay everyone off. Trust me, corporations WILL find a way to make a profit. That’s why they exist. So if that means getting rid of a few million employees, so be it.

the whoosh everyone heard was the country’s faith flying out the collective window…………..and small business owners running to shut down their businesses before they have an appalling tax rate HIKE……….and the welfare recipients running towrd Washington to get their free cars, and houses, and insurance. ……………….I’m looking at moving ………as far away from stupid Americans ( and the non citizens that voted , and the dead people that voted, …………………….i could go on and on. I have always been a hugely patriotic American………..and I am now ashamed, for the first time in my 56 years……………

Alright, for those of you leaving negative comments, please be SPECIFIC and tell me about something radical that happened to you PERSONALLY because of a Democratic government being in power. By “being in power”, I refer, of course, to the usual massive corporations that really run the country and make the actual decisions.
Personally, I’ve been through two brutal job downsizings in the past three years and am now on the brink of bankruptcy due to the thousands of dollars in medical and prescription bills I racked up while struggling to survive without health insurance. Oh, wait, that wasn’t because of the Dems.
Cat: Don’t move to Canada … or England … or Australia … or anywhere that you might run into a welfare system!

Amen ladyfriend. That rusty metallic, blood-curling sound? That was me unclenching my buttocks after 8 years. Hi!
November 5th, 2008 at 4:55 pm
DK, I wouldn’t run to any of those countries……….I’ve already lived in Norway , and my children are half English ( and yes, Their Father, my Ex , has worked for an American Oil company for 30 years ( he immigrated on my Father’s sponsorship to the US and makes upwards of $650K a year in his position , but wouldn’t help with his own children’s college tuitions and lied about & hid money to keep the divorce judge from knowing his true worth….after 25 years of marriage…..so, don’t ask me what I don’t like about The Dems …..anyway, the MAIN reason we never took assignments in the UK was because of their systems and my Ex would NOT take the PAY CUT to work in his HOME Country…….I love my country………but I hate what is happening…..I haven’t been able to afford health insurance myself or much of anything else since the Real Estate market has been in limbo………………so, yes, I have FIRST hand knowledge of where NOT to go in this world. but, I digress……………
November 5th, 2008 at 4:59 pm
I read my piece again……………and I was rambling………………..but I would imagine you got the jest of my gripes about the Dems policies on immigration, social security , welfare, taxes……………….I’ve paid in to the system for almost 40 years……….and , believe me…….I know where my tax dollars and my SS payments go………………
November 5th, 2008 at 5:07 pm
Cat: Actually, hon, I was struggling to understand just how your ex-husband’s behaviour had anything to do with Democrats. However, speaking of immigration … when I arrived in the U.S. with a solid education, work experience, English as my first language, etc. NOBODY would sponsor me for a green card — again, nothing to do with any political party. Meantime, I’ve been paying taxes and SSI for almost 30 years and yet I still can’t get adequate medical care without private health insurance.
What I’m asking for here is for each person who is running around screaming that the sky is falling and America is doomed to tell me a true story about an actual experience they’ve had that is *directly related* to the Democratic party. So far, so nothing…
Oh, and a gentle reminder to all: THIS IS A NOT A POLITICAL WEBSITE! My original post refers simply to everybody being relieved that all the misery of campaigning is finally o-v-e-r.

Here Here! And now you may go back to your political ignorance and all of the people “threatening” to move out of the country, should…the proverbial door is always open…and I’d love to see how they survive outside of the freest and honestly the best country in the world. Good luck to all.

first, thanks for your recent comment.
as for the whoosh, i’m really grateful for it because i had really bad gas last night, which mercifully went unnoticed by the universe.
and wow, you really attract the conservatives to your blog don’t you?
November 5th, 2008 at 6:38 pm
Albert: You are most welcome, it was sincere and well-deserved! [Note to other readers here: go check out Albert’s current post NOW] … Truthfully, I am grateful that I attract a good contingent of intelligent types even when they disagree with me. As long as they argue intelligently then it’s all good.

The eight year nightmare has ended. Praise Jeebus.

You won’t see any negative comment from me….
I mean, if these last 8 years haven’t pretty much shown the path we’ve been heading in, what exactly do the masses of ignorance need as proof??
Get a grip…..we’ve been needing a change. And until we get a negative one, be happy that soon the current, unsympathetic, war mongering, debt inducing administration will be KICKED out of the White House!!
WooooooHoooooooo

Personally speaking….I voted for Mickey Mouse.

I actually erased my original lengthy rant yesterday in favor of democrats or DEMON-crats as my conservative friend’s son calls me. Sheesh, like you, I just want some decent health insurance. We may have a shot at that with Obama. I just had to pay $155 towards a damn pair of glasses WITH my currant CRAPPY insurance. Thats like 1/4 of my monthly income. But humorously I just wanted to be able to see things, you know, like words on my computer screen and things I was drawing.
