Have I mentioned that I’m very insightful? I’m fully aware of all my psychological warts and shortcomings, along with my many talents and skills. I have my areas of insecurity and denial (I *deny* that I am in denial!!!), but overall I believe that false modesty is simply insecurity in disguise. I am self-confident and have a reasonably healthy ego — some lesser intelligent types would gladly assume that to be a form of arrogance. It’s not. Then again, if it is arrogance then it shouldn’t matter what the lesser types think, right? I’ll deny it all anyway.
