Good Things Are Hard to Find

Why is it that whenever I discover the most excellent product for use in a particular purpose, that product then mysteriously becomes unavailable, impossible to find again, or the manufacturer changes it? Now and then I am able, through a selective stalking/research process to track down the original item and buy it direct. Which is why I’d like to nominate the folks at Good Cook for my Winner of the Month award (1st Prize = a mention in my LiveJournal). Good Cook makes a metal “slotted spoon” kitchen utensil, in a sort of triangular shape with a plastic handle. I found these spoons years ago in California and have bought them ever since — when I could find them. Fortunately, they last for years. Unfortunately, the last one I found was by sheer accident in a store in Lafayette, Louisiana about two years ago. I have since scoured the supermarkets in Houston to find another and said supermarkets have failed miserably to stock the item. I eventually went to www.goodcook.com and found a phone number and commenced to hounding their highly-patient marketing people who not only offered to send me two complimentary spoons but also to make a very rare exception to their company policy and permit me to purchase another six directly from them… at wholesale! This saves me something in the area of $3.75 PER spoon and the supply of spoons will last me for years! This makes me a very happy little spooner!!! So, kudos to the lovely people at Good Cook who are under the mistaken impression that I must be one helluva good cook myself. I decided not to tell them that these slotted spoons make the World’s Greatest Kat Box Scoopers.
