Last weekend I took The Girls to see Matt Leddy and the Meatcutters. Aside from getting lost on the inhospitable trek to the northside, we had a fabulous time. The band was taking a break when we arrived and Matt, who immediately spotted me, promptly welcomed us, bought me a drink, obtained coffee for The Girls, and dedicated the first song of the next set to “The Crazy Brit”. A little later I moseyed upstairs where the bartender who had given me directions earlier in the day also bought me a drink and introduced me to a charming Scottish lady. I was actually able to understand her accent (which I never could do when I lived in England) probably because, like me, she has been living in the U.S. for a few years. Matt also gave The Girls and I free CD’s. Great band and well worth taking the time to visit one of the hole-in-the-wall dives where they usually play.
