Kids and Krayons

Kids ~ they’re not just for breakfast any more! Really, it’s such a shame that I can’t stand children because some of them are truly adorable. Take Jan and Laura, for example. Adorable. We were having dinner one night before they went home to France. We dined at one of those fancy restaurants with the paper tablecloths and the crayons. Unfortunately, due to the busy-ness of the evening, we were tragically (but temporarily) short a blue crayon. A bit of fussing and whingeing occurred, but once the server brought the missing crayon I managed to settle down. It didn’t take much persuasion to get the artistically-inclined kids to do some colouring for me. I was greatly surprised and touched, however, when they playfully incorporated my name into their sketchings multiple times.

At one point Laura started substituting the letters of my name into a game of tic-tac-toe and when Jan captured the winning square he finished it by using the last letter of my name! If that doesn’t make you smile then you are a lost cause!

Even the grown-ups got into the act. You can see in the bottom-left corner where I skillfully drew a highly realistic sunshine symbol around my gracious host’s wine bottle in case he forgot where it went on the table. Also, if you look closely, you will see my amazingly life-like caricature of red-headed Kelli:

Lastly, the lovely Laura drew this for me on a separately decorated table “cloth”.

If the guys I date get any younger, pretty soon I’ll be taping their drawings to my refrigerator. Meantime, all of the stunning artwork featured above can currently be found displayed on my kitchen walls. Folks, don’t try this at home.

    You’re such an artistic hoar.

When kids draw pictures for me, it’s usually of some crazy looking girl with ten cats. I wonder what that means?

And you’re a liar… you like kids…. otherwise mine would not be so fond of you. BTW…. J inquired how your healing was going today…. and Uncle Charlie wants to know if you need him to come down and “take care of things”…….. I’m scared of what he might mean by that.

Loopy, go to the zoo and give the monkeys some crayons. Same difference only the monkeys smell better.
