For the record, I would like to set something straight. In no way have I ever gone looking for a relationship with a younger man. For several years, younger guys have flocked to me in droves and in return, I have spent a lot of time sending them away. (just because they are young, doesn’t mean they are hot!) For a while, I found it to be incredibly bizarre that some of my older male friends were quite insistent on snippily re-quoting my comments in order to make it sound as though *I* was the one seeking younger companionship {”She prefers the younger guys, you know!”} Nowadays, it’s just irritating to be expected to justify the age difference in my relationship . . . not that I bother trying to dignify others’ ignorant misconceptions, but that’s not the point. Interestingly, I was once told by a psychiatrist that the twisting of my words was an older man’s way of salving his ego because he felt I would prefer a younger man over him — despite that I have never communicated any romantic interest in my male friends of any age. That’s why we are just friends. From my viewpoint, I can’t control who is attracted to me or what their age might be. Frankly, I prefer somebody with maturity … and again, age has nothing to do with that! The Beau NEVER gets insecure about our 10-year age difference, so why should anybody else give a damn?

Feel free to trot out the smarmy over-used cradle-robbing cracks, but don’t expect to get any more of a reaction from me than a shit-eating grin. In all honesty, when you suggest that I should put his career before mine, you’re just showing your own outdated thinking. Maybe you could take a little extra Vi*gra to help stiffen your upper lip. For centuries men have sought the companionship of younger women … yet you don’t hear me whining about anybody preferring a younger partner than me. Suck it up you older guys, the age of the double-standard has long been dead.
